Caitlin Clark Becomes First DI Player to Lead Conference in Scoring and Assists for Four Consecutive Seasons

Historic NCAA Tournament Leads to WNBA Draft

Clark Selected No. 1 Overall by Indiana Fever

NEW YORK -- Caitlin Clark, the record-breaking face of women's college basketball, has taken her next step in her professional career.

The University of Iowa star was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft on Monday night.

Clark, who was born on January 22, 2002, is the only player in NCAA Division I men's or women's basketball history to lead her conference in scoring and assists in four consecutive seasons.

Her historic NCAA tournament performance helped lead the Hawkeyes to the Sweet 16, and now she is ready to make her mark in the WNBA.

"I'm so excited to start my professional career with the Indiana Fever," Clark said in a statement. "I've always dreamed of playing in the WNBA, and I'm so grateful to the Fever for giving me this opportunity."

Clark is expected to make an immediate impact for the Fever, who finished with a 5-29 record last season.

"Caitlin is a special talent," Fever coach Marianne Stanley said. "She has all the tools to be a successful player in the WNBA, and we're excited to have her on our team."
