Swedish Epic Heavy Metallers Sorcerer Return with New Album Reign of the Reaper

Swedish epic doom metal band Sorcerer has announced the release of their fourth studio album, Reign of the Reaper, which is set to drop on October 27th via Metal Blade Records. The band has also released the first single and video from the album, titled "In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross."

Reign of the Reaper is the follow-up to Sorcerer's 2020 album, Lamenting of the Innocent, and is said to be a continuation of the band's brand of muscular traditional heavy metal with a retainer firmly deposited in the doom bar. The album was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden, with producer Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Soilwork).

Sorcerer was founded in Stockholm in 1988, but disbanded in 1992. The band reformed in 2010 and has since released three studio albums: In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross (2015), The Crowning of the Fire King (2017), and Lamenting of the Innocent (2020).

Sorcerer's lineup features singer Anders Engberg, guitarists Kristian Niemann and Ola Englund, bassist Johnny Hagel, and drummer Richard Evensand.

Reign of the Reaper track listing:

  • "In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross"
  • "The Hammer of Witches"
  • "Daughters of the Night"
  • "Reaping the Whirlwind"
  • "The Plague"
  • "Crimson Fog"
  • "Conjuring the Dead"
  • "Gates of Madness"
  • "When All Is Said and Done"

Pre-orders for Reign of the Reaper are available now at Metal Blade Records.
