A Trailblazer in the South African Entertainment Industry

Born in 1947 in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, Chiume's decades-long career spanned from the early days of Black television in South Africa to major international productions. She was one of the first Black actors to grace South African television screens, appearing in the groundbreaking series "Sgudi 'Snaysi" in the 1980s.

Chiume's talent and versatility shone through in numerous roles, including her memorable performances in the Marvel superhero films "Black Panther" and "Avengers: Endgame." Her powerful portrayal of the fierce warrior Xoliswa, the mother of Wakanda's king T'Challa, left an unforgettable mark on audiences worldwide.
