Angela Rayner, the most senior woman in the Labour Party, has ended her relationship with fellow party MP Sam Tarry.
The Deputy Leader appeared in the House of Commons just hours after calling time on her relationship with Mr Tarry, who has been blocked from running as a Labour MP in a ballot of party members.
Mr Tarry, who has served as MP for Ilford South since 2019, was deselected on Monday night.
Ms Rayner, 43, is said to have broken up with Mr Tarry, 41, just one day before her appearance in the House of Commons on Wednesday.
The mother-of-three is reported to have ended her relationship with Mr Tarry, who she previously described as her soulmate.
Ms Rayner has been critical of Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer in recent months, and has been linked to a possible leadership challenge.
Mr Tarry is a supporter of Jeremy Corbyn, who was Labour leader from 2015 to 2020.
The split between Ms Rayner and Mr Tarry is the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the Labour Party.
